Grooming

Exotics are bred to meet the Persian standard in all ways, but there is one major exception: this breed has a thick, dense, short, yet very plushy coat.

This coat is easily maintained, which may be why Exotics are sometimes affectionately referred to as the lazy man’s Persian.

Personality

More inquisitive and active than the Persian, Exotics share many of the Persian's personality features. Like the Persian, they are generally laid back and sweet tempered, but they are also active and playful.

Appearance

The Exotic's body and head-style match that of the Persian. With short, heavily boned legs and a boxy, stout body. The head is round, with a short, snub nose and large, round, very expressive eyes.

The Exotic as a Companion

The Exotic is a quiet, affectionate, sweet and loyal companion. They are easy going and extremely affectionate. Not at all vocal, when they want your attention, they will usually ask for it by just sitting in front of you with a "Please love me" look in their eyes.

They will curl up in your lap for a nap, and it's not uncommon for this breed to sit on your shoulder and hug you when you pet them. They'll usually seek out a cool locale for sleeping, due to the warmth of their coat, but may well wake you up in the morning with a cold wet nose to the face.

Beautiful, playful and fun loving, the Exotic is a wonderful addition to any family.
